8:48 a.m. – Proof you are making a difference! This is when an article on the right-wing’s Colorado Observer‘s site linked to our “Something You Can Do Right Now” post. Their post, titled “Jeffco School District Stevenson’s 3 R’s: Rumor, Revolt & Recall”, cites our blog as a website that “…promote several unions including American Federation of Teachers, National Educators’ Association, Colorado Educators’ Association and Jefferson County Education Association.”
Our reaction? Well, first to paraphrase John Wayne in Big Jake, “you must figure we’re a real danger to your agenda!“
One way of measuring how strong you are is by the enemies you make. When the Colorado Observer starts taking pot shots at our little blog…, well, we have to be doing something they are concerned about!
But it is not us at JeffCo School Board Watch that have them worried. It’s you.
We came up on their radar only because you have been coming to this site, sharing your knowledge, opinions, feelings, and plans. They are comically trying to paint all of you as simply “union activists“, and your filling out the JeffCo Schools Budget Survey as an effort to “skew the survey”. We know better. You are primarily parents, local business people, community leaders, and yes, a few teachers. But mainly you are people to whom kids and their future are more important than any political ideology.
So, keep it up! We finally got their attention, and that means they are scared. We have a long way to go yet, so be ready and be patient. The time will come when we kick the crazies out, and begin rebuilding our school district. And along the way, we will teach the extremists something they will never forget:
